Don't Be Weary to Do Good

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

Sometimes responding to our desire to do good can be exhausting and humiliating. We see others in a difficult situation, moved by compassion, we feel directly concerned and we do what is necessary to help them get out of it as quickly as possible. Instead of gratitude, we receive blame and criticism for not doing enough. Often when this happens to us, we wonder if it was a mistake to help.

Becoming angry, we always tend to react to make others feel their ingratitude and lack of recognition towards us. We must always keep in mind that we will not always have the gratitude we desire. There will often be times when what we do for others, no matter how important it is, will make no difference to them. This is why it is crucial to turn to words to know the right attitude to adopt.

Let us never stop doing good even when we reap evil, loving others when they hate us, encouraging them when they discourage us. Sometimes our efforts to get others to change their lifestyle or repent may be ignored and our deep desire to help may be rejected. But don't get tired, always persevere. You may never see the result, but a day will come when you will get the harvest what you have done. God will reward you.

May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
