The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed."
Matthew 8:8 (NIV)
Jesus did not heal the paralyzed all at once. He allowed the centurion to prove his faith in Him so that the glory of God might be manifested. It is impossible to please God without faith. Many of us doubt God's promises when things go wrong, especially when we see no way out. But, true faith does not require any visible signs, just believing.
Jesus made it clear that He can effect His authority over sickness by a simple touch. However, He doesn't need to touch anyone to heal them. Seeing the centurion's faith, with one word, He healed his servant because that's what the centurion needed, knowing that he was not worthy to receive Jesus under his roof.
Again, faith in Christ is very precious in the sight of God. We never know the weakness of our faith, until we are placed in the furnace of trial and anxiety, financial problems, even the loss of someone (death). So when you face various trials, ask the Lord to increase our faith.
May God bless you all!
Amen
