Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who wait for the Lord.
Psalm 31:24 (NASB)
In the Bible, we find many words of encouragement and comfort that God speaks to those who are going through difficult times. This proves that God is attentive to what we face every day. When we read the Bible, we see that, like Joshua and David, the majority of those who served God with all their hearts, whether they were kings, prophets, priests or simple believers, always turned to Him for help and comfort.
This prayer of David is a prayer of comfort in his trials. God had addressed this same imperative [Be Strong and Take Courage. Jos. 1:7] to Joshua after calling him to replace Moses as leader of the people. In this verse, David extends the application of this promise by saying, “All you who wait for the Lord!” This means that this phrase is also addressed to you in the midst of your trials.
I don’t know what you are going through right now, I don’t know what your level of discouragement, despair and anxiety is, but one thing is for sure, if God had made this promise to Joshua, David and many others who hoped in Him, (We find it almost 20 times in the Old Testament alone), as long as your faith and hope is in Him, He will do it for you too and will make sure to fight for you and take care of you. Take courage because God will always be by your side. He will strengthen you and give you courage.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
