Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.
Jude 24 (KJV)
When I was younger, one of the questions I often asked myself was why it is easier for a child to fall than an adult while running. It was only when I saw my son running that I understood that even at 6 or 7 years old, children do not yet have full balance when they run. So when he played, knowing he was going to run anyway, I always stood close to him to hold him. It's like I know exactly when hewas going to fall.
In the Christian life, we are no different from 6 or 7 year old children. We all believe that we are spiritually strong and in control of our lives, which is why we walk as if no obstacle could make us fall. But we are all wrong, there will come a time when even this firm assurance will not keep us from falling. It's not the fall that's going to be the problem, it's our proud attitude before others. This is why God, in His grace, has a plan to help us.
We all face temptations of all kinds every day, even when we think we are strong. When they come, we don't see them coming. They create confusion in our thoughts, distract us and even entangle us. If you find yourself in such a situation, remember that your own efforts cannot always protect you. Turn to Jesus to comme to your rescue. He is the only one who is able to keep you from falling.
May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
