Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
Psalm 96:3 (NASB)
If there's one thing every believer loves to do, it's praising God—in other words, giving Him glory. But some don't really know what it means to praise or glorify God, except through song or testimony. Even those who think they know don't know how to go about it or what the object of their praise should be. In this psalm, the author describes the fundamental elements of praising and worshipping God and explains how to do it.
Praising God always involves new songs. This doesn't mean that the old ones are no longer important, but simply that God is always doing new things in our lives, continually renewing His goodness and grace toward us. Because of this, we should always have new reasons to give Him glory. One of the elements of our praise must be God's salvation, and this is not something we should do in private. A believer who has experienced God's grace in Jesus Christ should be able to proclaim His glory wherever they go, even among unbelievers.
There is nothing wrong with singing God's praises and giving Him glory in your bedroom, with your family, or in church during worship. But God also expects you to speak of His blessings and His love for you among the nations. This is also a way to preach the gospel of salvation. Don't be afraid to praise God publicly when you feel the desire; God will surely use what comes from your mouth to edify your listeners. They too need to know that He is a faithful and wonderful God.
May God's grace and peace be with you all.
