In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)
When I drive, I often encounter impatient drivers who, instead of patiently waiting for the green light to continue on their way, prefer to take a detour to go faster. What I like most is when this detour adds more delay to their journey than if they had waited. I imagine their frustration and anger. The question I often ask myself is: do they regret their decision? If so, will they do the same thing if they find themselves in the same situation?
This is what happens to many of us on a spiritual level. By wanting to carry out our projects too quickly, we do not expect situations to slow us down. Even when we feel like downtime is from God, we try to take another shortcut. I think Solomon, in his wisdom, understood that there is also a time to stop and wait for God even if we do not understand his delay.
There are our plans and God's plan. We often call it God's providence. He knows what is going to happen, so he intervenes in our time and our plan, either to prevent us from making a mistake or to teach us. Even if you think carefully about your action, you don't know what the future holds for you. But God knows. Regardless of your level of impatience and the importance of your project, I suggest you wait on God, because even if He takes time to act, He will never be late.
May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
