The Plan of God

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NASB)

When we think about what God in His grace has done for us, the only thing we should really care about is praising Him and giving Him glory. For no effort on our part, however great, will ever make us deserve such salvation. In his sovereignty, God could declare us righteous without there being a price to pay. But in his holiness, he cannot leave anything unpunished. But instead of punishing us, he chose to place the burden of our sins on his son.

This is what God did when He sent His son in a time like this. This is what I meant when I said that celebrating Christmas should be important to us as Christians. By sending His son, we know that God thought of us, We know that out of His grace and love He sent His son to bear the consequences of our sins. If today you and I can rejoice in God's grace it is because His son has taken our place.

Although it seems simple, there is a necessary condition to receive the grace and become a member of God's family. You must have faith in Jesus, recognizing that He is the son of God, that He died for your sins, that He rose again and that He sit at the right hand of the father to intercede on your behalf. You see, it's still simple, but you have to believe in what God has done for you.

May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
