Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, they are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:23 (RSV)
At some point in our lives, we all ask ourselves this same question: What must I do to be saved? Even Christians who sometimes doubt their faith also ask themselves this question. From God's point of view, you don't have to do anything because He has already done everything for you. Our sinful nature has alienated us from God and no good deed or attitude on our part could make us merit His grace and salvation.
However, out of love for you and me, He voluntarily decided to bring us back to Him. In Jesus Christ He has saved, forgiven, justified and sanctified us. Which brings the answer to our question, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household. [NIV]” (Acts 16:31). What more do we need? Of all biblical truths, this is the best message that has come down to us. The saving message.
God does not ask you to make sacrifices or pay an exorbitant sum to be saved. At the cross, Jesus has already paid the price for you. All you have to do is receive Him in your heart and walk by His words. John 14:21 tells us this: "Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me. [NIV]" Jesus does not ask you more than to accept His message. Therein lies your salvation.
