The Sin Before You

All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal.

1 John 5:17 (RSV)

In verses 16 and 17, John teaches us that there are two types of sin: (1) that which does not lead to death and (2) that which leads to death. The sin which does not lead to death is one whose result is not fatal when committed. However, we must not ignore that all sin is evil in God's eyes, regardless of its type.

Whatever sin we commit breaks our connection with God and distances us from Him. Which implies that as soon as a person commits a sin, he immediately loses all privilege of being under the grace of God. However, the person who commits a sin that does not lead to death has a chance to repent and restore his or her personal relationship with God in Jesus Christ. He will receive His forgiveness.

As a believer, whether consciously or unconsciously, if you commit a sin, you will die spiritually and lose all contact with God. You must immediately repent of your sin and turn to God for forgiveness. If you refuse to repent, you will also die physically and be eternally separated from God. Avoid committing any sin, even if it is a sin that does not lead to death, because you are important in the eyes of God.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
