The True Worshipers

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

John 4:23 (NKJV)

The first thing we need to keep in mind when we talk about serving God in the context of worship is that God created us for His glory and for His satisfaction. He did not create us to share His glory with us or to satisfy our personal desires. He derives His glory from our relationship with Him. The greatest expression of our worship to God is our longing to seek His face and live in relationship with Him.

Some Christians believe that worship means singing with great emotion. What they don't know is that singing is praising God for what He means to us and for what He has done and continues to do for us. Praise is therefore the final expression of our adoration and gratitude to God. We can therefore say that worship is living in the way that pleases God. Worship is not a one-off action over time but it is a lifestyle.

Worship is the spiritual reality of our life of communion with God in the way that pleases Him. A life of worship can be defined thus:

A life of worship is a life of meditation on the word of God.

A life of worship is a life of prayer and praise to God.

A life of worship is a life lived in faith in the promises of God.

A life of worship is a life of love for God and others.

A life of worship is a life of submission and obedience to the word of God.

This is therefore the lifestyle that God requires of true worshipers who worship Him.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
