Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
Jeremiah 17:14 (NIV)
When we are sick, we often pray to ask God for physical healing rather than spiritual healing, when all we need is a touch from God. When we don't see the immediate result which is the hoped-for physical healing, then we begin to question God and ask ourselves why.
Some of us even start to question God and doubt because we hoped to see our prayers answered immediately, but the answer does not come right away. Since we are impatient and don't understand God's process, we begin to say that something is wrong or that God doesn't really care. Know that no matter why God takes the time to answer our prayer in the way we desire, we must trust God's Word and His timing. We must be willing to wait on God. He can make us wait for several reasons. It could be seeing our faith in Him; it could be to make our faith stronger; or sometimes God changes something in us. Either way, God will heal us and not just heal our physical bodies, but also our souls.
When you cry out these words, "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed," it is first and foremost the healing of the soul that must be seen. Without this healing, all other healing has no value. It is temporary. When you were cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, that's when you received true healing, leading to eternal life.
Today let us ask God to increase our faith, learn to wait in prayer and ask Him for divine help. It doesn't matter how long it takes. Look to God for the healing that only He can and it really works.
Sometimes God's time, in his patience, does not allow us to wait for him to have an answer because our situation is far more urgent than his timing. In such a case, what can be done?
