Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.

When the Bible speaks to us about renewing our minds, it is telling us to get rid of all bad thoughts that might affect our actions, our decisions, and even our attitude toward others. When we read in Ephesians 4:22 "and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds", it implies a new understanding, a new belief and a new motivation, centered on the word of God.
You may always wonder how to achieve this level of renewal. This is exactly what Paul explains to us in today's verse. It is not something that comes in a powerful way, but it is our inner desire and our decision to seek out and develop these attitudes within ourselves. Certainly, God gives us the spiritual and moral capacity, but it is up to us to do what is necessary to make it happen.
So my friends, have affection for all that is true, all that is honourable, pure and acceptable in the eyes of God, for that is how the Holy Spirit will use you for the building up of the people of God.
