All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
2 Thessalonians 1:5 (NIV)
Some people believe that suffering is always the result of our sins or wrongdoings. They even think that it is because of a lack of faith. Most of the time, they ignore the fact that as long as we live on this earth, suffering will always be a part of our lives, we will always experience difficulties and troubles. Part of our situation is sometimes made up of trials that prove our faith and trust in God.
If we truly understand Paul’s teaching, we will discern that he is trying to help us see clearly that suffering can be part of God’s plan for believers to help them grow into another dimension. Paul was helping the Thessalonians understand that the persecution they suffered in their faith was evidence that God was testing them so that they would be considered worthy of the kingdom of God.
God is still working in our lives today to help us become mature, faithful, and patient. Your situation, as painful as it may be, is not beyond God’s reach. If He does not respond, it is not because He does not see you or is not interested in you, but rather because He wants to teach you perseverance, faith, and patience. Spiritual progress does not come only from reading the Bible, it is also the result of the trials that God has placed in your path to test and evaluate you.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
