But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:37 (NASB)
After a lecture I gave on "The Traps of the Enemy", a young girl came to me to tell me that her faith would not allow an evil spirit to take possession of her body, because her faith is sufficiently powerful to protect her. I was silent for a moment before answering her because she was too confident in her faith. I tell her that the enemy knows who he can attack and who he cannot, however, he can use the lusts and negative tendencies of those who believe to bring them down. This is the most powerful trap he has. From the way she looked at me, she didn't see that answer coming.
As Christians, we all wage war against the enemy of our faith. He does not attack us where we are strong or where we are on guard. He hits us where we are weak and when we least expect it. The enemy is cunning enough to know how to make us vulnerable. Our duty is to put on the armor of God, which is His word, and the power of the Holy Spirit which is our protection. It's our only line of defense.
The defense we have is more powerful than anything the enemy can use to reach us. With Christ on our side, we have nothing to fear. Christ's protection is total and perfect, nothing will be able to cross it to reach us. When the enemy threatens you and makes you believe you have no way out, remember that you are more than victorious through the power of the One who loved you.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
