So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
Acts 13:3 (NIV)
Fasting is one of the best ways to come empty to God so He can fill you up. Fasting is the discipline by how we train ourselves for a certain period of time not to eat food or drink for the express purpose of being drawn into close intimacy with God; having a specific request answered.
Fasting and prayer work hand in hand with each other. You cannot fast without praying – otherwise you will simply be on a hunger strike. The point of fasting is to sacrifice earthly needs in order to focus more on communing with God. Prayer is how we commune with God during this time of fellowship. It is in these times we can receive visions, revelations of God's word, and a refreshed assurance in the goodness of God.
As we fast and pray let’s ask the Lord to increase our faith. Ask Him to remove any wrong motive that we may have, so that we might desire Him more and seek for Him more, weather things are going good or bad in our lives.
May God bless you all!
